The Feast of the Faithful Departed

The Feast of the Faithful Departed

The Feast of the Faithful Departed is a day to make present before the Lord and before our hearts the memory of all our relatives and friends or acquaintances who have already left us, and that during daily life we cannot be remembering. The poet's verse: «How alone the dead are left!», also expresses a simple human limitation: we cannot live permanently tied to the memory of deceased loved ones, even if we are faithful to their memory; it would not even be psychologically healthy. By law of life, we end up partly "forgetting" our deceased, at least in the course of ordinary life. Therefore, this special day is an auspicious and opportune occasion to fulfill the duty of our grateful memory. It is a work of solidarity to pray to God for the deceased, that is, to feel in communion with them, beyond the limits of space, time and flesh. Who does not remember their parents, relatives, friends and acquaintances who have already left earthly life?
